Bit concerned about this week’s visitor to the garden! The picture looks zoomed in, but I was only about 20cm away from this little blue tit who has taken up residence on the bird feeder and refuses to leave. He can’t fly very well at all and just kind of swoops in a bumble bee fashion up and down through the air from the tree opposite to the feeder then back again, missing every so often and clinging to the wall. All day back and forth and he lets you stand right next to him, it’s very weird. I’ve spoken to the RSPB and they say there’s little they can do with an injured blue tit, it’d be cruel to cage him and that a vet would just put him to sleep. So, we’ve wedged a bird house in the tree for shelter and left him to his own devices, though I’m a bit worried as it’s a rainy, blowy night outside.
He’s also very fussy eater, as the below video shows, highly amusing as he tosses the majority of the seeds out of the feeder and down to the ground in disgust!
