Chunks, planks and slivers – Team Moregeous go wood huntin!

2013-10-06_0002It’s been a source of both pleasure and amusement to me to watch solid slabs & quirky pieces of natural timber being increasingly used by designers and featured on style must-haves, 2013’s trade shows have been awash with buffed up chunks being sold for astronomical prices.

Yesterday we went for lovely Autumn rummage around my favourite timber source, looking for both inspiration for our house and also two specific pieces for a garden I’ve redesigned and is 80% of the way there, with just seating and fencing to finish. I first went there over twelve years ago but was heavily criticised (on national telly!) for using bits of old wood in my interior design. To my mind there is nothing more beautiful than bits of old wood, and I’d make an educated guess that most of the decor, lighting and colours may have dated, but the sanded back, character filled slabs of timber used as shelving still look as gorgeous now as the day they were installed.

Proper wood, used proper-ly is authentic, real, solid, beautiful and so so tactile, you find yourself stroking, touching and admiring it constantly. Can you tell I’m, a fan? 😉

I’l be blogging the finished bits soon, keep calling back x
