Feature for 25 Beautiful Homes November 2009

November 2009

Have been popping into the garage all week to get November’s copy of 25 Beautiful Homes and finally it dropped onto the shelves today. Flicked through to find our cute little monochrome apartment on Page 112 entitled ‘Wise Investment’. It’s a lovely article and talks of inventive ideas and bargain buys, all spot on for a credit crunch…. I may want to buy everything at 100% Design, but reality kicks in when you are renovating a rental property, so it’s Ikea and B&Q all the way. Great article, but I am always surprised at what does and doesn’t get into the photo choices….

Working on a tiny budget, eh... story of my life!!!

Can't believe they didn't use the Ikea stickered feature wall, weird!!

Zoe, the tenant, sitting pretty in her flat!

I was totally convinced that instead of the corner shown above, the main shot would be of the feature wall I’d stickered with the black flowers and crystals, but it was barely shown!

This is one of my snapshots of the wall I mean

2009 25BH 4Am I just a fussy buggar or do the silver screws on the shelf brackets stand out a mile? Photoshop!

And yes, we ate all the cakes 🙂

They missed off the chandelier!! But it reminds me how much I adore this Paraiso wallpaper

It’s fab publicity and Maxine Brady, the journalist, did brilliantly to get it placed. Very rarely do these type of magazines feature rental homes, and owner occupiers always bump off us landlords…. or is it that I am the only landlord in the UK to fret over wallpaper and shoe cupboards……
