Go on, admit it, if you had this wall in your home office, would you fall asleep mid-afternoon? 🙂
What Matt wanted for our Birmingham couple’s Half Built House was his own home office with lots of sturdy storage, but which also doubled up as a second bedroom for when friends or family stayed. His images of ‘likes’ showed simple, contemporary spaces with clean lines and few frills. Having opted for the verdigris accent colour for the bedside cabinets, I decided to carry this colour through into the design scheme for the office but in a much more modern way.
I mooted the idea of a stripe to the boys but I think they thought it’d be a few centimetres wide in a soft pastel shade….. eyebrows were raised as the masking tape went on and the painting commenced! I LOVED it when it was finished, so vibrant and energising – just what was needed in a bedroom space where someone needed to work all day. With the moveable Ikea desks and contemporary style Sit’n’Sleep sofa bed, the room was versatile enough to be completely changed should people come to stay, with a glamorous peacock fabric blind made for the window to give a softer feel in the evenings.
Claire was a bit shocked but phewf….. Matt loved it!

I’ve seen some more vibrant stripes in interior schemes, would YOU be brave enough?!
