Never one to turn down a day with some Annie Sloan, I recently spent a lovely Saturday lunchtime hosting a chalk paint demo for the Home Is In The North Event in Manchester. Matt at Northern Letters has blogged the event HERE if you’d like to see some lovely pics of the wonderful array of designer makers who exhibited – so much talent under the gorgeous roof of Halle St Peter’s.
Whilst they sold their wonderful wares, I was set the challenge of personalising an old £20 pine headboard found on Ebay by the show’s organiser Rachael and given to me on the day – no pressure then!
30 paint loving attendees chose a Graphite grey & Pure white colour scheme to get rid of that dreadful 70’s pine. We set about on an interactive hour of fun trying out the paints and effects, dashing outside to let the paint coats dry in the wind and everyone got stuck in.
It was lovely to get such an enthusiastic bunch, all keen to have a go testing the paint and all loving the idea of no boring sanding & undercoating prep. So many people said they’d tried upcycling & painting furniture but prep trauma had really put them off trying it again. Not with chalk paint 😉
Everyone went off filled with that Give It A Go attitude we love here at Moregeous – have brush, will transform!
Thanks to Gary Lomas Photography for some great captures of the day x
Looks great!
Great to catch up on such a fabulous day. Really enjoyed your demo!
Ah, thanks Ann. Never had such a big crowd for a demo before, and such enthusiasm, was brilliant! 🙂
