Never one to shy away from a challenge (have you *seen* Moregeous Mansions?!), I liked the idea of taking part in #PimpMyFrench set by Out There Interiors to work on and transform one of their French style drawer benches. I’ve been so emeshed in bricks, slates and DIY here as our build progresses, I figured it would be a welcome splash of interiors loveliness. I like the friendly approach of the company, run by fuchsia femme Jenny, who describes her brand as desirable, diverse and down to earth, spoken like a true Lancashire lass!
As I’ve swooned my way through Pinterest images whilst designing our new interior scheme, one look has struck me as super strong for 2015. You know it of course, the black Crittal style windows, warm metal tones of brass or gold and creamy neutrals, along with lots of botanical brilliance. Something along these lines below and a look which really appeals to me.
I thought it’d be fun to condense this look down into one piece of furniture – my own personal challenge within a challenge! I utilised an Annie Sloan graphite chalk paint & dark wax plus some gold Japlac metallic paint already on my working shelves, and was inspired by a new and rather fabulous Designers Guild wallpaper called Bamboo Lime:
But you’ll have to wait til tomorrow to see the finished result!
Along with six other blogger / creative types, all our finished benches will be entered into a competition for interiors enthusiasts to vote on by 7th April, both on Out There interiors Facebook and Instagram pages. I hope you like what I’ve created but it’s not the Winning it’s the Taking Part 😉
Check out the other fab crafty entrants here: Two Lovely Gays, Emily Quinton, Courage & Dash and We Love Home, plus the teams at Period Living and Mollie Makes.
