An Airbnb Milestone – 100 Reviews

Fantastic to get to a bit of a milestone this week with our little West Didsbury Airbnb apartment – 100 reviews! It doesn’t seem two minutes since we were wondering what Airbnb was all about and was it worth looking it. The answer was quite clearly yes 🙂

0920dd92_original.jpgLots of people have asked me if it’s worth it and how much hard work it is, two quite different questions. For me it’s a brilliant way of utilising a space which I considered too small for ‘regular’ tenants, although when I see some of the property other landlords rent out, it’s obvious not everyone has quite such high standards. We’ve had guests from all over the world, some working, some visiting friends, and UK guests here for graduations, gigs and trips down a Manchester memory lane.

It can be a challenge whilst working full time and if the Airbnb isn’t actually where you live, especially when guests are one-nighters one after the other, meaning the room needs to be turned around, cleaned, dressed and prepared night after night. After a hard day on site here at our own renovation, there’s a touch of irony about ensuring luxury for our guests then grabbing a shower at my dads. You need to be prepared to be a tour guide, a chambermaid, a DIYer, a concierge and a public transport expert. You just need to be, well, prepared. At all times!

Is it worth it? Yes, for reviews like these :

We want to go back to explore the little shops and boutiques and some more of the restaurants, so in a way I don’t want to tell anyone how good it was ! Thank you Sian…. especially for the chocolate treat ! We will definitely try to visit again.

Beautifully decorated with quality appliances, there are no cut corners here. Compact and bijou it may be, but that’s what makes it so warm and welcoming. I didn’t want to leave.

If visiting Manchester…The Pad is perfect. Adjacent to the tram station…Central Manchester is on your doorstep. The Pad is a beautiful place to stay..a very high standard. Easily contactable & very friendly. I can’t recommend The Pad enough.

Excellent stay at The Pad. Beautifully decorated, lovely host, very close to tram and local bars/shops. The chocolate welcome gift was delicious! Will be staying again!

Being at the heart of West Didsbury makes my life much easier as our guests have so many amazing independents on the doorstep: restaurants, cafes, bars, chocolate & cake shops, beauty therapists, an Edwardian pool and even interior design & clothing boutiques. Some guests don’t actually make it into Manchester city centre 🙂

Perhaps the review which made me smile the most was this one, which conjured up the image of my PJ clad dad PJs waving his Daily Fail at my very early to leave guest!

Brilliant room off Burton Road, property was great and the room was clean with high quality furnishings. On the day of leaving I was even challenged by the caretaker at 7am in the morning making sure I wasn’t a burglar.
