Yep, it’s a totally sensible choice to book a lighting event at your renovation before you’ve *quite* got a working bathroom, why wouldn’t you? Because obviously the type of interesting, adventurous people who want to create, build and wire up their own unique light are the type of people who’d love a good nosy round a site like this one!!
Delighted and excited therefore to reveal the first collaboration event here at Moregeous Mansions is with British company Factorylux. Little did I know, when I set off on a road trip to check out their Yorkshire based manufacturing base, that a few months later I’d end up with their team heading back over to this side of the Pennines with “The Van”.
The Van is a miniature mobile version of the Hebden Bridge workshop, in which you can design and make your own bespoke design helped by skilled professionals. On Wednesday and Thursday it’ll be parked up in Manchester city centre, hosting guests from various architectural practices, then on Friday 2nd it’ll be getting back down to earth (arf arf, electrical joke, geddit) here with us at Moregeous Mansions for lighting magic with professional interior designers/specifiers, all fuelled by cocktails and cake. Ok, maybe we’ll save the cocktails til after the wiring bit 😉
The images taken on The Van down in London recently seem to be those of studious, hands on concentration topped by winning smiles – a good combination in anyone’s book.
“Factorylux compliance supremo Sophie Gollop is one of the few women working in compliance at board level in the UK lighting industry. Her unique, inclusive style is especially empowering for designers who work with electrical contractors and manufacturers. All ability levels are catered for, no previous experience is necessary.”
Tweet me if you’re a Manchester based designer and fancy it – 4pm -6pm, Friday 2 September – only five places left!
